I found out from my friend @nathanmartell that the chair in one of my previous posts is the “real good chair” by blu dot. I excitedly went to their website to not only find the chair but also discover a video about a very cool experiment based on “curb mining”, the act of finding furniture or art on the street. Placing several of the chairs all over NYC they hid gps trackers under the seats and waited for people to take them home. They then went to the homes of what they called “incos” (identified new chair owners) and interviewed them. Pretty awesome idea if I do say so myself! Now to get my hands on some of those amazing chairs!

anybody know who designed the chair in this photo?

Very nice. Once again, those chairs are back. I’ve changed my opinion on them though, thanks to some information kindly sent in by needle:

It’s the Eames shell chair. They are everywhere. If you don’t know much about Charles and Ray Eames, you should so google and see if you can’t catch a wonderful recent documentary about them — industrial designers, architects, painters, creatives, and a really interesting couple as well. Their motto was “the best, for the most, for the least.” So I think they would be happy that their iconic designs have remained so popular.
